Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes leading to the lungs); gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease); and infections of the ears, throat, tonsils, and urinary tract. Bacterial infections are caused when harmful bacteria invade our system and quickly multiply in number, releasing harmful toxins. The medicine works by preventing the formation of bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is required for the survival of bacterial cells. Store the Cefixime tablets in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
