Overview
Cefaset 1 is an antibiotic injection. The formulation of Cefaset 1 consists of Ceftriaxone 1000 mg. The uses of this injection cover several bacterial infections. It kills the bacteria by preventing them from forming the protective cell covering. It is a very effective antibacterial against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It usually takes 1-2g daily, and the normal time period for the dosage is nearly 5-14 days. It may cause some side effects like pain, swelling, nausea, vomiting, etc., which are not that much of a problem, but in case of a longer persistence of the symptom, consult your healthcare provider.
Indication for the Use of Cefaset 1
Cefaset 1 is indicate for the treatment of following infection cases :
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Septicemia
- Meningitis
- Bone and joint infections
- Gonorrhea
- Surgical prophylaxis
Mechanism of Action
The Cefaset 1 has an active ingredient, Ceftriaxone, which inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins, which interfere with the final step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls. This caused the bacterial cell lysis and death and stopping the growth and annihilation of the bacterial infection. Dosages and Administration
The Injection must be taken as prescribed by the healthcare provider, as improper use or any misuse of it may cause an unwanted condition. Some of the general dose recommendations and administration are : - For adults, the recommended dose is 1-2g once daily, depending on the severity of the infection.
- For children the doses are based on body weight
Administration - The injection is administered through Intramuscular (IM) or Intravenous (IV)
- The dose period varies from 5-14 days.
